New User-friendly Interface for Food Filling Machines

Multi-Fill is constantly working to improve our food filling machines. We recently implemented an updated human machine interface (HMI) which used streamlined features to make it easy for anyone to operate the machine.

The new HMIs have done away with the old method of menu navigation which required the operator to read English. The new system uses clever and intuitive icons, which relieves the need for an operator who can read English. The icons also clarify the operation of the machine.

The new HMI has another advantage, which is that it comes pre-programmed with our updated software package. The new software results in cleaner operation of the machine, including the core functions.

Why upgrade?

Updating your PLC allows you to add additional functionality to your line, such as ethernet connections, error recording, error reporting, efficiency reporting, and so on. Many of our clients use error reporting to make small incremental improvements to the design of their line and equipment, improving annual production and lowering costs from wastage. All of our new features are designed to support and promote efficient production.

Our new HMI is designed to work with the updated PLC as a matched set. The updated PLC allows for improved efficiency and reliability. When you upgrade both components at once, the installation is simple and clear.

Some customers have contacted us asking if they can replace just the HMI or just the PLC unit. While we can do that, we encourage everyone to consider upgrading both at once. In order to upgrade just one unit, we will need to send a technician to your location to program the new unit to work properly with the old unit. The cost of travel should be considered as a part of any upgrade.

Our electrical components typically ship with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. Because of the nature of electrical components, there are no user serviceable parts inside, and it is difficult to estimate the remaining life on the older parts. The older HMI and PLC units are no longer covered by that warranty, and we encourage all of our customers to consider a planned upgrade, to help you avoid an unplanned (and costly) breakdown later.

Some of our Multi-Fill food filling equipment is still operational after more than 30 years of continuous use, and that is due to the quality of construction, but also proper maintenance. Repairing and replacing worn components is a good practice that protects your investment and extends the longevity of your production line.

Food packaging plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of the food we consume. To maintain high standards and prevent foodborne illnesses, the food packaging industry follows a set of regulations known as Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). In this article, we will delve into cGMP and explore its impact on preventing foodborne illness. We will also take an inside look at how cGMP is implemented on a food factory line, the role of food filling equipment in ensuring compliance, and discuss the future of cGMP in food packaging for strengthening food safety.

Current Good Manufacturing Practices Food safety is of utmost importance in the food industry, and several systems work together to prevent foodborne illnesses. This article explores the harmonization of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls (HARPC) in ensuring food line safety. We will delve into the synergy between these systems, the role of critical control points, and their practical application in both automatic and manual counting devices. Additionally, we will discuss how cGMP, HACCP, and HARPC optimize automatic filling machines for enhanced food safety. This article is in our series on Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
