Find the perfect name for your pet food

Thousands of new pet food products are introduced each year to keep pace with a rapidly changing market. In this article, we look at naming strategies.

Begin brainstorming.

Every good idea
starts with a business plan. Whether you’re marketing for yourself or you have a team to help you out, you need to do your research. Look at popular pet food names and trends, or names of popular pets' favorite foods. Brainstorming ideas will help you to round up a list of popular names and find ideas for your business name.

Remember, your name should be creative and catchy. It should be a memorable name and something that people would not get tired of. Pet food names usually contain a pun or fun nature, but if you’re marketing a luxury or pedigree brand, you might consider something high-end. Some websites contain a random business generator you can use for ideas. Don’t settle for these though - your name should be unique to your brand, location, and objectives.

Shortlist your ideas

Now that you’ve done your research and created a list of names you are interested in, it’s time to choose. Shortlist your ideas to your demographic, location, and brand tone. It’s advisable to toss out names that contain abbreviations or inappropriate language. Names that don’t fit your objective or reputation should also be removed. When shortlisting your options, try to visualize the name of the business as part of your brand image. Can you think of ideas for a business logo, slogan, or theme colors? If so, keep the name of your shortlist.

Get some feedback

The best thing to do when choosing a name is to see if the name attracts
good feedback from your target market. You can do this through marketing research, questionnaires, or simply asking around. Round up a few people and ask them what is their first impression of the brand. A marketing team can also help you with feedback and ensure that you choose a name that is creative and brandable.

Register your business name.

You chose a name and you’re excited to start selling your pet products so what’s the next step? Firstly you need to register your business name to officially make it a legible business. Registering will ensure that you follow pet food business rules and regulations. Next, you need to create a website or register a website domain. A social media team can help you out here or you can use Wix or WordPress for free websites as you start your business.

Once you find the perfect name for your pet food, you’re going to need to be ready to supply your customers. For help with pet food supplies for your business, give us a
